How to Care for Your Silk Pillowcase and Silk Sheets

Your Charmeuse silk bed linen is quite easy to care for and the silk fibers only requires an extra bit of attention. Your Silk sheet set and silk pillowcase can be machine washed or washed by hand. If you are going to use a washing machine to launder the bedding set you should:

• Machine washable in cold water only
• Wash on delicate cycle only
• Do use a mesh laundry bag
• Do use a delicate detergent like Heritage Park which is formulated specifically for silk bedding

Our silk bed sheets is shrinkage resistant. Our silk linen has high tensile strength, making it strong and durable. With proper care, your silk pillowcases and silk sheets should last a long time. Silk pillowcases and silk sheets are machine washable and can also be washed by hand (there's no need to dry clean). Follow these directions and use a mild detergent specially formulated for silk. Our silk bedding is shrinkage resistant.

Directions for Washing Your Silk Pillowcases and Silk Sheets

Your pure mulberry silk pillowcases and silk sheets can easily be washed! They should be washed before you first use them and whenever you regularly wash sheets. Machine wash your silk pillowcases and silk sheets on a gentle cycle in cold water; hand wash in cold or lukewarm water is also fine. Choose a mild detergent made specifically for silk, such as Fine Silk & Wool Detergent from Heritage Park Laundry Essentials. Spot treat stains carefully to avoid discoloration to the fabric. We also highly recommend using a mesh laundry bag to protect your silk products in the washing machine.

Drying Your Silk Pillowcases and Silk Sheets

Always hang your silk pillowcase and silk sheets to dry. They are lightweight and will dry quickly indoors or outside. Always hang your silk items away from direct sunlight.

How to Maintain Your Silk Pillowcases and Silk Sheets

After washing, silk can lose a little of its original luster. This is normal. Use a cool/warm iron to restore sheen. A steam setting can help the iron to glide smoothly across the fabric. Pillowcases, sheets, duvet covers, and other silk products should be stored away from direct sunlight in a breathable plastic bag or soft cotton pillowcase for protection.
