This specialized laundry soap contains powerful cleaning agents formulated just for silk, wool, and other fabric clothing and home linens made of natural fibers. With its unique cleaning power, Heritage Park's fine laundry detergent for silk and wool will preserve your laundered luxuries for years to come.
NOTE: When washing silk, be sure to check your washing machine for damage to any internal plastic parts that could have been slightly damaged by zippers or metal on clothing. This can catch and cause tears and holes in delicate fabrics. The use of a mesh laundry bag is highly recommended.
Directions
Use Heritage Park Silk & Wool detergents to wash silk, wool, cashmere, alpaca, washable furs, and other protein-based fabrics. Perfect for clothing, lingerie, bedding, and other home textiles.
Heritage Park laundry detergents are concentrated, so you use less and waste less; they are also biodegradable and safe for septic and greywater systems.
Effective in all water temperatures, our detergents can be used in standard or high-efficiency (HE) washing machines. It's also perfect for hand-washing delicate fabrics.
Hand Washing: Use 1 tablespoon or 1/3 Measuring Cap (32 oz Bottle) per standard washing basin or bathroom sink (approx. 2 gallons of water).
High-Efficiency Machine: Use one Full Capful or 3 tablespoons per regular laundry load (approx. 1/2 full drum)
Standard Machine: Use 1.5 Capfuls or 4.5 tablespoons per regular laundry load.
You can pre-treat with the Heritage Park All-Purpose detergent for tough stains on silk fabrics, but only as needed. Dilute and apply directly to the stain - 1 part detergent to 2 parts water is a good ratio. Gently dab on and around the stained area from the back of the fabric using a clean cloth or cotton ball. Do not rub. Do not allow it to set for longer than 10-15 minutes. Follow by washing with Silk & Wool detergent as specified above.
Some natural fibers like silk, wool, and cashmere can safely be laundered in your washing machine without the need for dry cleaning. Although these are different fabrics, they are all protein-based and should not be washed with regular detergent; even gentle enzyme detergents should be avoided for washing wool and silk, as detergent enzymes work by breaking down protein and can damage silk and wool fiber over time.

Regular laundry detergent is packed with chemicals, compounds, and dangerous ingredients that can trigger allergies, provoke reactions, and irritate delicate skin. Heritage Park non toxic laundry detergents don't contain any of these problematic ingredients or harmful chemicals:
No Dyes: The dyes used to color a detergent or cleaning product serve absolutely NO purpose and are a source of skin irritation and allergies.
No Sulfates: These chemical compounds are used to create foam in laundry products (and household cleaning and personal care products like dish soap, body wash, and shampoo). Sulfates irritate allergies, eczema, and other skin conditions.
No Phosphates: Used to soften hard water, phosphates are toxic chemicals dangerous for people and the environment. Most reputable detergent manufacturers have stopped using phosphates.
No Chlorine: This highly reactive chemical element is used to disinfect and sanitize but triggers irritation and contact dermatitis. It can also cause fading and damage to fabrics over time.
No Bleach: Oxygen and chlorine bleach can irritate the skin. Bleach should be used only following the manufacturer’s directions and in small quantities, never as an ingredient in detergent.
No Optical Brighteners: These synthetic chemicals remain on clothing and laundry to absorb UV light and make items appear brighter. Along with irritating skin, these compounds are NOT biodegradable.
