This specialized laundry soap contains powerful cleaning agents formulated just for silk, wool, and other fabric clothing and home linens made of natural fibers. With its unique cleaning power, Heritage Park's fine laundry detergent for silk and wool will preserve your laundered luxuries for years to come.
NOTE: When washing silk, be sure to check your washing machine for damage to any internal plastic parts that could have been slightly damaged by zippers or metal on clothing. This can catch and cause tears and holes in delicate fabrics. The use of a mesh laundry bag is highly recommended.
Directions
Use Heritage Park Silk & Wool detergents to wash silk, wool, cashmere, alpaca, washable furs, and other protein-based fabrics. Perfect for clothing, lingerie, bedding, and other home textiles.
Heritage Park laundry detergents are concentrated, so you use less and waste less; they are also biodegradable and safe for septic and greywater systems.
Effective in all water temperatures, our detergents can be used in standard or high-efficiency (HE) washing machines. It's also perfect for hand-washing delicate fabrics.
Hand Washing: Use 1 tablespoon or 1/3 Measuring Cap (32 oz Bottle) per standard washing basin or bathroom sink (approx. 2 gallons of water).
High-Efficiency Machine: Use one Full Capful or 3 tablespoons per regular laundry load (approx. 1/2 full drum)
Standard Machine: Use 1.5 Capfuls or 4.5 tablespoons per regular laundry load.
You can pre-treat with the Heritage Park All-Purpose detergent for tough stains on silk fabrics, but only as needed. Dilute and apply directly to the stain - 1 part detergent to 2 parts water is a good ratio. Gently dab on and around the stained area from the back of the fabric using a clean cloth or cotton ball. Do not rub. Do not allow it to set for longer than 10-15 minutes. Follow by washing with Silk & Wool detergent as specified above.
Some natural fibers like silk, wool, and cashmere can safely be laundered in your washing machine without the need for dry cleaning. Although these are different fabrics, they are all protein-based and should not be washed with regular detergent; even gentle enzyme detergents should be avoided for washing wool and silk, as detergent enzymes work by breaking down protein and can damage silk and wool fiber over time.

Regular laundry detergent is packed with chemicals, compounds, and dangerous ingredients that can trigger allergies, provoke reactions, and irritate delicate skin. Heritage Park non toxic laundry detergents don't contain any of these problematic ingredients or harmful chemicals:
No Dyes: The dyes used to color a detergent or cleaning product serve absolutely NO purpose and are a source of skin irritation and allergies.
No Sulfates: These chemical compounds are used to create foam in laundry products (and household cleaning and personal care products like dish soap, body wash, and shampoo). Sulfates irritate allergies, eczema, and other skin conditions.
No Phosphates: Used to soften hard water, phosphates are toxic chemicals dangerous for people and the environment. Most reputable detergent manufacturers have stopped using phosphates.

bought item for $44.05 returned in original packaging unused. Sent back with postage I purchased. Received $21.25 as a refund. Spoke to agent on phone who very nice and said I could send back.... and save by buying postage. Didnt seem to pan out that way.
This is definitely delicate and is good to clean things like silk or wool with. The scent is not overwhelming so if you're worried about color or smell being too much to handle, it is a light soap to come with scent. I'd buy it again for sure.

I purchased and used the Heritage Park Silk and Wool Detergent to clean my new Mulberry Park Silks pillowcase, and was very pleased with the results. I felt it cleaned the pillowcase thoroughly, and rinsed out equally as well. I live in an area with hard water, so I'm aware of what hand-wash fabrics feel like when detergents or other cleaners don't rinse out thoroughly.

The silk is lustrous and thick. Doesn’t retain it’s original full luster though after 2 months of once a week washing with your own silk detergent ONLY and put in a garment bag that I bought from you with nothing else in the washing machine in total but your sheet. I think though that the lack of original luster after two months is unavoidable since it’s a natural material. When I first took it out of the packaging it was incredibly soft and full of luster. It felt very luxurious.

No complaints with the detergent itself, in fact I find that it rinses better than most other gentle fabric detergents on the market.
I would have given 5 stars in this review, however I ordered online and thus the detergent shipped via mail/delivery carrier and due to the less than gentle handling it received in transit, the cap was damaged to the point where the detergent leaked into the bubble wrap sleeve the bottle was in and from there to the box itself.
While I certainly find fault with the people whom handled my order during the process of shipping, I would also suggest that Mulberry Park didn’t do me any favors either. Knowing the less than gentle treatment packages receive in transit, every customer should expect the shipper to package delicate, and spill/leak prone items to be packaged to prevent ALL movement within the container it is shipped in. It simply is not sufficient to wrap a bottle of detergent in a heavy duty bubble wrap sleeve and then place said sleeve wrapped bottle in a box with a small length of paper wrapping that does NOT prevent it from moving around in the box in transit.
I applaud the environmental choice of the paper wrapping, though I would suggest bio-degradable packing peanuts that can be stuffed into a container and around an item to prevent all but the slightest of shifts. Especially since the customer (or the shipper for that matter) cannot identify the careless hands that moved the item along its route. Happier customers equal loyal customers…
