Understanding Silk Pillowcase Weight (momme)
At Mulberry Park Silks, our silk pillowcases come in three momme weights ranging from 19 to 30 momme; momme (mm) is a unit of measurement that denotes the weight of silk. As momme increases, silk is heavier, denser in weave, and more costly. Higher momme silk is also made with thicker silk fibers.

19 Momme Silk Pillowcase Weight
This is a lovely silk and our most affordable option. With a competitive price point, our 19 momme pillowcases are an ideal entry-level purchase for anyone new to silk who wants to try it out. Our 19 momme natural silk pillowcases are luxurious and beneficial to hair and skin; however, they have less silk than those of higher momme weight, and so are a bit more delicate. Available in six color options (see chart below).
22 Momme Silk Pillowcase Weight
This silk pillowcase is more expensive, but still available at an affordable price point. Our 22 momme silk pillowcases are the same weight as our most popular sheet set. They contain 16 percent more silk than the 19 momme pillowcase and offer excellent durability in a tight weave with regular silk strands. Available in seven color options that coordinate with our 22 momme flat and silk fitted sheets.
30 Momme Silk Pillowcase Weight
The 30 momme silk pillowcases are the ultimate in luxury and indulgence. With 58 percent more silk than a 19 momme pillowcase, they are our most expensive pillowcase and well worth the investment. They are exceptionally durable, with the highest density of silk; the tightest weave; and the thickest silk strands.

How to Care for Your Momme Silk Pillowcase
All Mulberry Park Silks pillowcases--no matter the momme weight--are easy to care for. You can wash your silk pillowcase by hand or machine following these simple guidelines. If you are washing by machine, we recommend turning your pillowcase inside out and placing it in a fine mesh laundry bag to protect it during the wash cycle. Use cool water and a delicate or silk cycle with a detergent specially made for silk like Heritage Park Luxury Silk, Wool, and Cashmere Detergent. This pH neutral formula will clean your silk while protecting the integrity of the fabric. Hang your silk pillowcase to dry indoors or outside away from direct sunlight which can fade silk fabric. Ironing your silk pillowcase is not necessary, but if you choose to iron silk, use the lowest heat setting and follow these directions.
