Choosing a Fitted Silk Sheet: Understanding Pocket Depth

A set of silk sheets from Mulberry Park is a great investment in looking and feeling fabulous. Along with being naturally hypoallergenic and temperature regulating, our 22 momme pure mulberry silk sheets help skin and hair retain moisture, tame tangles, and minimize sleep wrinkles. They're an absolute essential for your perfect night's beauty sleep.

Silk Sheets for Every Size Bed

At Mulberry Park, we think everyone should be able to sleep and wake in the luxury and comfort of silk bed linen. Our affordable mulberry silk sheets come in a range of designer colors, with sizes ranging from twin to California king, all made in a super soft 22 momme weight charmeuse weave (equivalent to 900 thread count in a cotton bed sheet).

    Understanding Silk Sheet Pocket Difference

There are several factors to consider when purchasing silk sheets. Along with ensuring you purchase only pure mulberry silk, you also need to choose the proper size fitted sheet (the flat sheetis standard). This comes down to pocket difference.

Our fitted silk sheets come with either 15" or 17" pockets, each made for different mattress options. We recommend measuring your mattress depth with a tape measure. See the chart below for the best pocket depth for your bed.

If your mattress is 14" or below, we recommend you purchase a 15" pocket sheet. Anything 15" to 17" requires a 17" deep pocket sheet. In most cases, pillow-top mattresses will require the 17" pocket option. If you’re still not sure, contact our team of design consultants for recommendations and assistance.

    Why choose silk bedding?

There's no other fabric quite like pure silk. Silk is a natural fiber that is great for hair, skin, and sleep quality:

Silk is naturally cooling when you sleep

A silk sheet set is temperature regulating; it will keep you cool in summer and warm in winter. A silk bedsheet naturally wicks away moisture from your skin, something even the most luxurious Egyptian cotton sheets can't do.

Silk will help moisturize your hair and skin

Unlike cotton, which is plant-based and can dry out skin and hair, silk is a protein-based fiber that helps hair and skin retain moisture. In fact, the protein found in silk thread--known as sericin--can be found in many premium hair conditioners and skin creams.

Silk tames tangles, prevents sleep wrinkles

Cotton sheets can be hard on hair and skin; cotton percale sheets contain tiny fibers that tug at hair and skin. In contrast, a silk sheet or pillowcase allows hair to smoothly glide over the surface. You'll wake with fewer tangles and sleep wrinkles!

Silk is easy to care for

You can hand or machine wash your Mulberry Park Silk sheets. We recommend using a detergent specially formulated for silk such as Fine Silk and Wool Detergent from Heritage Park Laundry Essentials and following these directions.

    Silk is environmentally safe

All Mulberry Park sheets, pillowcases, bed linens, and accessories have been independently tested and Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 certified to be free from harmful chemicals and toxins. You can sleep well knowing your sheets are natural, safe, and healthy.

Silk bedding is an unparalleled luxury

Nothing compares to the feel of pure silk sheets, including high thread count sateen sheets (And don’t be fooled by "satin" which is not pure silk; a satin sheetis woven from man-made materials and delivers none of the health and beauty benefits of silk).
