Choose the Best Crib Sheets for Your Baby: Pure Mulberry Silk
There's nothing more exciting than preparing for the arrival of a baby. New and expectant parents (and grandparents too!) want only the best for their precious little one. When it comes to choosing a layette, that means selecting the all-natural, hypoallergenic, 100% pure silk crib sheets from Mulberry Park Silks.
Along with being the ultimate in softness and comfort, 100% pure silk crib sheets are great for baby's skin, hair, and overall comfort. Unlike cotton sheets, silk sheets are moisturizing, gentle to the touch, temperature regulating and naturally hypoallergenic. All Mulberry Park Silks products are also environmentally friendly and certified to be free of harmful chemicals, so mom and dad can rest easy knowing baby's cozy sheets are also healthy and safe.
Our Silk Keeps Baby's Skin Hydrated
There's nothing quite like a newborn baby's skin; it's rich in moisture and velvety smooth to the touch. But as baby explores the world, that skin becomes vulnerable to common problems like dryness, eczema, and cradle cap. Silk can help prevent or minimize these newborn skin conditions.
Let's start with eczema, or atopic dermatitis, which is defined by patches of itchy, scaly, or dry skin. Eczema is usually the result of skin's losing moisture and being unable to fend off environmental irritants and allergies. Keeping skin well moisturized is an important part of controlling eczema; that can be difficult with a crib sheet made from cotton, which is known for absorbency. In fact, a cotton crib sheet can actually pull precious moisture away from the skin, which further inflames eczema. Silk, a protein-based fiber that contains essential amino acids, does the reverse; it helps skin retain moisture and assists in the healing process for eczema and other irritations.
Cradle cap, or seborrheic dermatitis, is another routine skin issue for babies. It's similar to dandruff and presents as scaly, crusty, and oily patches on the scalp, forehead, eyebrows, face, and skin folds. The exact cause of cradle cap isn't known, but it is believed to be a combination of too much oil on the skin and a form of yeast, (a fungal infection). As we noted above, cotton crib sheets absorb moisture, but they don't wick it away. Oil and sweat from baby's head soak into the cotton sheet and it stays wet, which makes it the perfect breeding ground for yeast Again, silk is different; when baby sweats on a silk crib sheet, that moisture gets wicked away to inhibit the growth of yeast and keep them dry and comfortable.
Our Pure Silk is Gentle on Baby's Fine Hair
While some newborns lose the hair they were born with and regrow more, other babies have a distinct bald patch on the back of their heads. This is usually the result of friction against hard surfaces like mattresses or car seats. Cotton crib sheets may contribute to the problem; cotton fibers can pull and tug on a baby's delicate hair, causing it to break and fall out. Over time, that contact with rough cotton fiber can take a toll and worsen the baby's bald spot.
A Mulberry Park Silks silk charmeuse weave crib sheet is a better option. The soft, smooth, charmeuse weave allows your baby's head glide friction-free across its lustrous surface. There's no rubbing, no tugging, and no tearing at fragile hair. Many adults -- including those experiencing hair loss -- swear by a silk pillow case to preserve and foster hair growth for these same reasons.
Our Silk Crib Sheets Regulate Baby's Temperature for a Comfortable Night's Sleep
Along with feeling soft and comfortable against baby's skin, silk bedding is breathable and helps regulate body temperature. As we noted earlier, cotton is absorbent and retains moisture; in contrast, silk wicks away moisture to keep baby dry, and comfortable. Silk's low conductivity is naturally temperature regulating, which helps keep baby cool in summer and warm in winter. With a Mulberry Park Silks crib sheet, your baby can get a great night of sleep, staying dry and at a comfortable temperature year-round.
Our Silk Crib Sheets are Naturally Hypoallergenic and Mold/Mite Resistant
Any parent can tell you how prone baby skin can be to allergies and irritation. What baby sleeps on can make a big difference. Silk fiber contains fibroin, a special protein that gives silk its hypoallergenic properties. Fibroin also makes silk resistant to mold, fungus, and dust mites; this is why silk sheets help protect your baby from a multitude of environmental irritants and allergies. Silk is gentle on even the most sensitive skin, which makes it the perfect sleep environment for your little one.
