A simple search for “spa sponge headband” yields dozens of these products, all similar in design and price. For comparison purposes today, we will use the Mimi and Co version of the headband sold on Amazon.
Our take: This product is fashionable and fun to wear. You also can’t argue with the price. However, in our view, you should not be wearing this type of headband for any extended period because terry cloth is absorbent and, over the course of wearing, will actually pull precious moisture and/or hair products out from your hair. Additionally, it is not clear precisely what fabric is used for this headband; the weave is labeled “terry” but we are not sure if it is made of cotton, a blend, or an artificial synthetic fabric. We also don’t know the safety of this fabric. Finally, this headband is fashioned over a rigid plastic frame, which means it cannot be washed in the machine.
