In their Comprehensive list of “Gear and Gadgets For The One You Love With Parkinson's,” a group of therapists, kinesiologists, exercise physiologists and public health specialists crafted this list of functional and stylish must-have items that help mitigate some of the common day-to-day struggles of individuals living with Parkinson’s. This list includes everything from clothing to bathing and mobility devices. Mulberry Park Silks is honored to be the only silk company featured.
In the article, the authors discuss some reasons one might opt for silk bedding, “Parkinson’s disease has the potential to disturb sleep. One reason is as simple as waking every time you struggle to change position. These silk sheets provide a better sleeping surface for persons with Parkinson’s by reducing friction.” The article enumerates some of the additional benefits of silk, including its moisture-wicking and temperature-regulating properties.
“We are honored to be recognized by the Davis Phinney Foundation as a brand that offers relief to people living with Parkinson’s and happy to help alleviate some of the sleep issues that greatly impact the quality of life of those impacted,” says Erika Cellupica, Mulberry Park Silks Brand Manager, “Our team is dedicated to making a difference.”
Davis Phinney, the foundation’s namesake, is a former Olympic Bronze Medalist and Tour de France stage winner diagnosed with Parkinson's in 2000. “Since 2004, the Davis Phinney Foundation has brought to life some of the most important programs, research, content, and events for those affected by Parkinson’s. Our community includes people living with Parkinson’s, Parkinson’s care partners, families and friends of those living with Parkinson’s, physicians, and Parkinson’s allied health professionals.” according to the Foundation’s website.
