ZimaSilk Quality

ZimaSilk pillowcases are made from 100% mulberry silk of high quality (6A). The website notes that the silk used in the pillowcase is certified  OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 but there is no official logo on either the website or the pillowcase itself; this is strange, as OEKO-TEX® has rigorous guidelines for protecting their brand. Color options include  Black, Space Grey, Gold, Ivory, Light Grey, Pink, Navy Blue, Beige, and Grey Purple. The website can be a little confusing to navigate. There is no blog, but there are some care instructions available.

ZimaSilk Design

For purposes of this review, we are evaluating the 22 momme silk pillowcase with the logo. It appears that the “plain” version of ZimaSilk 22 momme is discontinued. This means that the only option available has an embossed logo on it; while this is not obtrusive or uncomfortable, it is not to everyone’s taste. The seams of this pillowcase are plain and the closure is a hidden zipper. The zipper is of good quality and operates smoothly. However, not everyone likes zipper closures; they can poke and be uncomfortable during the night. Zippers also have the potential to break and catch any loose threads.

ZimaSilk Company/Companion Products

ZimaSilk has a wide range of products but their selections are a bit unusual. While they do carry silk sheets and duvet covers, for example, they are available only in lighter weight 19 momme silk. This may be an attempt to keep the cost down, but it seems strange not to offer 22 momme bedding, which is the most popular weight. There are also some novelty patterns such as stripes and Mr./Mrs. designs available in 22 momme silk pillowcases. ZimaSilk also carries pajamas, sleep bonnets, masks, and scrunchies. There are no silk care products available for sale on the website. The company has a shipping office only in California, with no customer service or headquarters listed there. We suspect that ZimaSilk may be an offshore company (perhaps based in China) that has a warehouse in California for shipping only.

ZimaSilk offers only email customer service; this is what makes us believe that they are a “factory direct” operation based in Asia with a warehouse/fulfillment center in California. A pure mulberry silk pillowcase Mulberry Park Silks is a better value than ZimaSilk. Along with a confusing website and no blog, ZimaSilk raises an area of concern for us in that it appears to be an offshore company based in China (we think) with a shipping warehouse located in California.

Why is this an issue? It comes down to customer service. We are a U.S. based company that is committed to the finest customer service. You can email or call us with any question or concern. If you want to speak with someone, our design team is available. Our products are shipped from our headquarters in Connecticut, where we work. We will even send you swatches to review at home before you purchase your silk items.
