Don’t Waste Your Money on Silk Sheets

This article explains why buying anything less than high-quality silk sheets is a waste of money. In contrast, fine silk sheets are an investment in your sleep, health, wellness, and beauty.

Silk Sheets: Are they Worth It?

If you’ve spent any time with us here at Mulberry Park Silks, you know that we pride ourselves on being transparent about our products and our business. We give you the honest scoop on the benefits, quality, and pricing of our silk sheets, pillowcases, and accessories. So when you ask, “are silk sheets worth it?” we answer, “it depends.” Bottom line: poor quality silk sheets are NEVER worth the money. But high quality silk sheets like ours–while a bit of an investment–are a very wise purchase.

Read on to learn about the benefits of high-quality silk and how not to overpay for the best silk bedding.

The Many Benefits of Silk Sheets

As silk bedding experts, we really cannot overstate all the life-changing benefits of sleeping on high-quality mulberry silk bed sheet set:

1. Unparalleled Comfort and Sensation:

Pure silk sheets offer an unparalleled level of comfort and luxury. They are soft, lustrous, and provide a sensuous feel against the skin. The natural properties of silk fabric create a luxurious sleep experience that leaves you well-rested and truly pampered.

2. Temperature Regulation

Because silk is a natural fiber, a pure mulberry silk bedding set is breathable and ideal for all seasons. Natural silk also regulates body temperature and wicks away excess moisture. Sleeping on silk sheets keeps you cool during hot summers and warm during chilly winters. This optimal temperature control enhances sleep quality.

3. Beauty Benefits for Skin and Hair

Sleeping on a silk pillowcase is a beauty boost! Silk is wonderful for taming tangles and bedhead; minimizing frizz; and preventing sleep wrinkles (your hair and skin just glide across the smooth surface). A silk pillowcase also keeps hair and skin well hydrated, unlike a cotton pillowcase which pulls precious moisture away from hair and skin. Silk bed linen is also non irritating and keeps your skin hydrated and comfortable.

4. Hypoallergenic and Allergy Relief

Mulberry silk is naturally hypoallergenic and resistant to dust mites, mold, and mildew. Silk fiber contains a natural protein called fibroin that repels allergens, making silk sheets an excellent choice for individuals with allergies or sensitivities. By choosing silk sheets, you create an environment that promotes cleaner air quality and reduces the risk of allergic reactions, providing a more restful and comfortable sleep experience, particularly for anyone with a dust mite or mold sensitivity.

5. Durability and Longevity

High-quality silk sheets, particularly those made from the highest grade of pure mulberry silk (6A), are durable and can withstand regular use and care. Their strength and resilience ensure that they maintain their luxurious feel and appearance over time, making them a long-term investment in your sleep comfort.

6. Craftsmanship

The production of high-quality silk sheets involves meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail. Along with momme weight, look for details like a comfortable envelope closure on a silk pillowcase and a decorative hem on a flat sheet, both of which you’ll find at Mulberry Park Silks.

7. Customer service

Of course, you want to buy the best silk sheets for your budget. But customer support and care after the sale are just as important. Many silk bedding companies are offshore, with no option for “live” customer service. The offices and warehouse of Mulberry Park Silks are located in Connecticut; our design team is reachable by email or phone to offer assistance and answer questions on everything from caring for your silk sheets to styling your bed. We’ll even send you a sample of the silk sheets you’re thinking about to review before you buy.

Understanding What Goes into Mulberry Park Silks Pricing

We can’t emphasize this enough: where you purchase your silk matters! A reputable silk company will always be transparent about the factors influencing the pricing of their silk. At Mulberry Park Silks, we use the acronym “CHARMS” to explain the variables describing the quality and cost of our silk bedding:

Ch - Charmeuse weave. Our silk sheet set collection is woven in a lustrous charmeuse weave, which is soft and supple on one side and matte on the reverse. Even a luxurious set of sateen sheets made of Egyptian cotton cannot compare to the softness and indulgent luxury of our silk sheets.

A - Grade 6A. All the silk bedding we produce is made of the highest quality silk on the market, Grade 6A. The silk fibers are longer, stronger, softer, and more durable. An inferior silk quality won’t feel as good or last as long.

R - Real silk. Our silk sheets are 100% genuine silk and labeled as such. If you don’t see “real silk” on the label, you are likely looking at satin sheets or an inferior blend. Learn more about the difference between satin and silk here. Satin and blended sheets do not offer the same benefits as silk.

M - Momme weight. Similar to thread count in a cotton sheet, momme is a measurement of the density of the silk weave. The higher the momme count, the heavier, softer, and more costly the sheet set. We sell silk sheets in a lighter 19 momme weight; a traditional 22 momme (our most popular weight); and a heavier 30 momme. We also carry a silk duvet and shams in 22 momme. Genuine silk will always have a label noting momme weight.

S - Safety. All of our silk is certified STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® which means it has been independently tested and deemed safe from harmful chemicals.
